On Tuesday, December 18, 2012, The Faith Community of St. Sabina in partnership with WVON AM Radio, Johnson Publishing, The Chicago Urban League, State Senator Jacqueline Collins, and Terry Peterson served 2,300 dinners to the community at BJ's Market on 79th and Racine.
Guests were served a full meal of a chicken leg quarter, green beans, red beans and rice, and a beverage.
Father Michael Pfleger, the pastor of St. Sabina, told the Defender that he does this "to bless people who are struggling to let them know we care and show some love."
This is his fourth year showing this love by feeding the community with help from BJ's Market, community leaders, church members and residents. They fed 300 more people this year than last year.
