CARPENTERSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — More than 20,000 students in suburban Chicago will be back in class after teachers and the school district reached a tentative agreement that ends a teachers' strike after just one day.
The website of the Carpentersville-based Community Unit District 300 announced Tuesday night that the two sides reached a tentative deal on a 3-year-contract and that students will be back in class Wednesday morning.
The district did not release details about the deal Tuesday night. On Monday, a district spokesman said the two sides were about $2 million apart on salary.
