Hats Off – to the Comcast Foundation on its second installment of $40,000 to the Chicago Urban League NULITES, a youth leadership program that enhances middle school students’ skills in academics, financial literacy and social development. This installment component of a three-year $40,000 Presidents’ Fund totaling $120,000 will allow the Urban League to serve over 90 students from local Chicago area schools.
Since June, more than 85 students have completed the program, which incorporates a partnership between students and parents to obtain an engaged relationship for academic learning and opportunities for students to increase higher education achievements.
Comcast and the National Urban League are national partners to support educational youth development programs. In fact, Comcast served as a premier sponsor of last week’s National Urban League Conference at McCormick Place.
Cheryle Jackson, Chicago Urban League president/CEO, received the installment from Comcast’s Joe Higgins, regional corporate affairs manager; Sandy Weicher, vice president of the Lake Area; and Richard Ruggiero, vice president of communications and public affairs, Greater Chicago Region.
