Objective    

To acknowledge and celebrate African American men who personify the exemplary qualities of respect, responsibility, passion, brotherhood, and leadership.

The Program    

2nd annual celebration of Chicago’s African American Men of      Excellence, the Chicago Defender will produce a special pull-out section    featuring 50 of Chicago’s most influential men. They will each be       profiled and Corporations and Community organizations will have a       chance to salute them with congratulatory ads. A reception will be held at the Hotel Allegro to honor the men as well.

Nanette Frank brings her extraordinary five octave vocal range and eclectic blend of jazz and R&B performance to the Hidden Pearl Cafe in the Little Black Pearl Art and Design Center located at 47th & Greenwood in Chicago.

Jazz'n with Nanette Frank & Friends is about more than music. It is an entertaining and enjoyable way for people to help support the work of this innovative community group. While the primary focus of little Black Pearl is on children, it is a growing nonprofit organization that provides positive experiences, opportunities in art, culture and entrepreneurship to youth for adults and families across Chicago. Indulge your passions for music and art, in an environment where people mix, mingle and network while enjoying the wonderful art created in this historically recognized community.

Along with great music, delicious food and beverages, a wide array of works of art created by youth in programs and workshops are on display at Little Black Pearl. The first in this series of events Jazz'n with Nanette Frank & Friends takes place Thursday January 15, 2009 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at the Hidden Pearl Cafe, 1060 East 47th Street.
