Teesee's Town: WACA's 'Blue Monday' to honor founder Ernie Jenkins

“Blue Monday” Our own Illinois Senate President, Emil Jones Jr., is the honorary benefit chair for the Westside Association for Community Action's Blue Monday Extravaganza XXII on July 14 (a Monday, of course!), 5 p.m.9 p.m., at the members-only Chicago Yacht Club, Monroe and Lake Shore Dr. The annual evening, always a special highlight of the early summer social season, salutes Ernest R. “Ernie” Jenkins, WACA's revered founder, chair and CEO; Judge James L. Kaplan, of State of Illinois' Court of Claims; Judge Carol A. Kelly, of Cook County Juvenile Court; and Juan Ochoa, CEO of Metropolitan Pier & Exposition Authority.

The HIV/AIDs epidemic continues to plague the people of South Africa, where 30 percent of the total population is infected– the highest incidence in the world!
