CHICAGO (AP) — An exhibition at a historic Chicago hotel will document the city's role in helping former slaves escape to the North via the Underground Railroad.
Quilts, photographs, maps and biographies will be
on display at the Hotel Florence in Chicago's Pullman neighborhood from
February 12 to 21. They'll highlight the role of abolitionists, Union soldiers
and Chicago citizens in the Underground Railroad from 1840 to 1880.
The exhibition is presented by the Bronzeville
Historical Society and the Pullman State Historic Site.
Visitors can view the exhibit free of charge from
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
