CHICAGO (AP) — A 15-year-old found guilty in the beating death of Chicago high school honor student Derrion Albert will be confined to a juvenile detention center until he is 21 years old.
Judge Colleen Sheehan on Tuesday imposed the
sentence on the boy, who was convicted in December of first-degree murder in
the 2009 death of Albert. Sheehan ruled if the boy breaks any rules while
incarcerated, he will serve 30 years in prison as an adult.
The brawl broke out after classes let out of Fenger
High School on Chicago's South Side.
Last week, Silvonus Shannon was found guilty of
murder.
