CHICAGO (AP) — A church on Chicago's South Side is holding a special service to honor the area's civil servants.
The second annual "Waging War" program is set for Friday evening at the Apostolic Church of God.
The free program is open to all civil servants, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics, military and security guards, among others. Apostolic says it will offer a "blessing of protection for their continued safety."
Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis is slated to attend, among other law enforcement officials.
Hundreds of firefighters and police officers recently packed Apostolic to attend funeral services for one of two Chicago firefighters killed in a recent fire.
