CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago mayoral candidate and former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun has appeared at a church on the city's South Side.
On Sunday, Braun spoke at former opponent the Rev. James Meeks' church. U.S. Rep. Danny Davis withdrew from the race on New Year's Eve, leaving Braun as the remaining prominent black candidate. Meeks withdrew on Dec. 23.
Davis introduced Braun on Sunday at Salem Baptist Church.
Braun told the congregation she "can bring the pieces together from across the world."
She also said the city must make sure it has a bright future and isn't "a city divided or a people divided."
Braun faces a strong field that includes former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, former public schools president Gery Chico and City Clerk Miguel del Valle.
