Bulls' Noah to have thumb surgery

Associated Press

TORONTO (AP) — Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah was scheduled to have surgery Thursday to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb and is expected to take at least eight to recover.

Noah was injured Nov. 27 at Sacramento, but appeared in all nine of Chicago's games since. He had 11 points and 11 rebounds Wednesday night in a 110-93 win in Toronto, the Bulls' seventh straight victory.

Besides the torn ligament in his thumb, Noah also has sprained ligaments in the middle finger and index finger on his right hand. Those injuries do not require surgery.
