CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Department of Public Health is offering free flu shots at City Hall.
The shots will be provided from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursday in the second-floor lobby.
The 2010-2011 flu shot offers protection against
three different flu viruses, including the H1N1 virus that caused such an
uproar last flu season.
Health officials say vaccinations are the best way
to protect against flu infection, and all residents six months and older are
encouraged to get vaccinated.
Flu activity usually peaks in January or February.
Chicago health officials say the current risk of
flu infection in the city remains low.
Ways to avoid spreading the flu include washing
your hands, covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough and staying home if
you're sick.
