CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis is
calling for the public's help in solving the shooting death of a 15-year police
veteran who spent the past five years assigned to the SWAT team.
Authorities say 45-year-old David Blake was off-duty Monday evening when he was shot to death in his parked SUV in a southwest side neighborhood several miles from his home.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office ruled Tuesday that Blake's death was a homicide and due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Blake's gun and wallet were found inside the SUV and the vehicle's windows were rolled up when his body was found.
The much-decorated Blake's awards include a department commendation and 67 honorable mentions for courageous and distinguished service.
