The non-profit St. Baldrick's Foundation awarded the grant of $160,700 to University of Illinois at Chicago, Rush Medical Center and Stroger Hospital of Cook County.
The grant will provide resources to treat more children in clinical trials.
The hospitals are among 25 institutions to receive funding as part of the foundation's fall grants, which totaled more than $1.3 million.
Previous funding from the foundation merged programs at UIC, Rush and Stroger to form a single entity for participation in children's cancer clinical trials.
Money for the grants comes from donations gathered by St. Baldrick's volunteers, who shave their heads in solidarity with pediatric cancer patients who sometimes lose their hair during treatment.
