Mayweather due in Vegas court on domestic charge

by Cristina Silva

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is expected in a Las Vegas court for a criminal arraignment after prosecutors say he hit the mother of his children and threatened to beat his sons if they called 911 during the scuffle.

The 33-year-old Mayweather is slated to appear Tuesday before Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Diana Sullivan on eight misdemeanor and felony charges.

They stem from the Sept. 9 dispute with his former girlfriend, Josie Harris.

Authorities allege Mayweather also took mobile phones belonging to Harris and his sons following the fight.

Mayweather faces felony coercion, grand larceny and robbery, and misdemeanor domestic battery and harassment charges.

He could face up to 34 years in prison if he is convicted on all charges.
