CHICAGO (AP) — The medical staff of Cook County Jail
in Chicago will be featured in a docudrama Sunday on the Discovery Health
Channel.
"Doctors Behind Bars" highlights the work of doctors and psychologists who treat chronic diseases, drug addiction and other illnesses of jail inmates.
William Foley, CEO of the Cook County Health and Hospitals System, says the program is a chance for viewers to see how medical teams help patients under unusual conditions.
Camera crews spent almost a month following the doctors and staff at Cermak Health Services, which provides health care to the jail.
Dr. Nneka Jones, a psychologist at the facility, says it was easy to forget the cameras and stay involved with patients.
The show is scheduled to air Sunday at 9 p.m.
