Englewood students got special circus visit

Defender Staff Report

Before the UniverSoul Circus’ big top left Chicago’s Washington Park earlier this month, they made a special stop in Englewood to treat the 3rd- to 8th-graders at Barton Elementary School to a sneak peek at the circus’ offerings. The Atlanta-based Black circus started in 1994 to explore the various talents other than singing and dancing that Black performers had to offer. The 12-act circus performs at least 500 shows each year throughout the United States between February and November.
