No official word on cause of Chicago bus crash

Associated Press
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Transit Authority says it's too early to say why a crowded commuter bus veered off a thoroughfare and crashed into trees, injuring dozens of passengers.

CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski says the ongoing investigation includes examining surveillance video.

Passenger Britni Jones tells the Chicago Sun-Times the bus's steering wheel seemed stuck right before Saturday's crash. Hosinski declined to comment on the report.

Rider Seronna Stanton says the driver was crying as she checked on injured passengers.

Officials said Saturday one person was taken to a hospital in critical condition and three in serious condition. About a dozen others were in fair to serious condition. Others were treated at the scene.

Hosinski Sunday didn't have updates on conditions.
