Associated Press
CHICAGO (AP) — Charges have been filed against a 12-year-old who was shot by a 68-year-old woman for allegedly breaking the windows of her home.

Chicago police say juvenile misdemeanor aggravated assault to a senior citizen charges were filed Wednesday against the 12-year-old and a 13-year-old boy, who were released to their parents. No charges were filed against the woman.

Police say the woman had gone grocery shopping Tuesday and returned home to find her windows broken and two boys fleeing the area. When the boys returned, she stepped onto her porch. That is when the boys allegedly threw bricks at her.

Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado says the child's shoulder wound was treated at the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital.

Neighbors of the woman say the 12-year-old is well-known on the block, with one calling him "the little bad boy."
