Cook County law enforcers team up on drug arrests

Associated Press
CHICAGO (AP) — Cook County law enforcement officials say a months-long investigation has led to the arrest of almost 100 alleged drug dealers.

The Cook County Sheriff's Department and State's Attorney's Office, as well as police in Evanston, Maywood, Bellwood and Broadview worked on two separate investigations that officials say led to the combined seizure of 10 guns, $27,000 cash and narcotics with a street value over $600,000.

Officials say almost all of the people arrested were affiliated with street gangs.

Investigations are still under way into unsolved crimes such as armed robberies, aggravated batteries and homicides.

Officials say the effort is part of a plan to improve communication between neighboring police agencies.
