Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — A new television drama is to film in Illinois and state officials say they expect the production to result in $25 million in economic activity and 400 jobs.

Gov. Pat Quinn met with the cast and crew of the new Fox television show "Ride-Along" on Thursday. The show will dramatize the day-to-day lives of Chicago police detectives.

A one-hour pilot episode was filmed in Chicago in April. The series started full production in July and will begin airing midseason. It was created by Rockford native Shawn Ryan and stars Chicago native Jennifer Beals.

According to the governor's office, film and television productions brought $104 million in economic activity to Illinois in 2009.
