CHICAGO (AP) — Authorities in Chicago say a 16-year-old boy has been gunned down on a city street — just two days into the new school year.
The Cook County medical examiner's office says Deantonio Goss was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon after being shot in the city's South Chicago neighborhood.
Police say an 18-year-old student was also wounded in the shooting.
Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond says both victims attended Bowen High School, which is a few blocks away from the scene of the shooting.
Bond says the younger boy was a sophomore and the 18-year-old is a senior.
