CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago-based alliance of community health centers has won a federal stimulus grant to do research on what makes a difference for patients.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced the nearly $2 million grant Wednesday.
The Erie Family Health Center secured the funding for the Alliance of Chicago Community Health Centers, which is owned jointly by Erie and three other community health centers.
Alliance CEO Dr. Fred Rachman says the grant will fund patient-centered research in primary care.
Also, a federal grant of $3.5 million is going to the American Academy of Pediatrics. The Elk Grove Village-based group will use the money to develop an electronic health record system within the nation's largest pediatric primary care research network.
