Ill. man facing eviction charged with gun in court

Associated Press
CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago man facing eviction from his home has been charged with bringing a loaded gun to a post-foreclosure hearing.

The Cook County Sheriff's office says 48-year-old Thomas Pridgeon had a .45-caliber handgun in his briefcase when he arrived for Monday's hearing at Chicago's Daley Center.

He put the briefcase through a screening machine, where a deputy spotted the weapon.

Authorities say the gun had one bullet in the chamber and seven more in the clip. Pridgeon allegedly told deputies he forgot the gun was in his briefcase.

He's been charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

Sheriff's officials didn't know whether he has an attorney.
