Investigation continues in shooting that wounded 9

Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — Authorities in Chicago are investigating a shooting that left nine people wounded, but police say the victims are expected to survive.

The shooting happened Monday night at a Chicago Transit Authority bus turnaround on the city's South Side.

Police say the victims were a 20-year-old woman and eight males — ranging in age from 16 to 31.

Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis says the shooting appears to be gang-related.

Weis came to the scene of the shooting and said he wanted to assure the public that nobody was targeting commuters.

Weis says police are interviewing witnesses at the hospitals.

Nobody is in custody.
