Swim bans lifted on 5 Chicago beaches

Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — City officials have lifted swim bans on five Chicago beaches, but are still advising caution at ten others.

The Chicago Park District on Sunday issued a swimming advisory for the following beaches: Calumet, Rainbow, South Shore, 63rd Street, 12th Street, Oak Street, Montrose, Foster, Hartigan and Jarvis,

According to the district's website a ban means water conditions may be hazardous because of severe weather or high E. coli bacteria levels. A swim advisory means take precautions before swimming.

Officials say all beaches are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for swimming.
