LITCHFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Gov. Pat Quinn has signed a bill to expand mental health coverage for Illinois veterans.
Under the legislation signed Thursday, vets won't have to pay for services at state mental health facilities that aren't covered by their insurance plans.
House Bill 6103 passed the Illinois General Assembly unanimously.
The legislation takes effect immediately.
Servicemembers who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan who have been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury or post-traumatic stress disorder are eligible for mental health services through the state and federal governments.
