CVS Caremark, Walgreen stick together

Associated Press

CRISIS AVERTED: CVS Caremark Corp. and Walgreen, which could have lost billions in revenue each in their dispute over prescription pricing, will continue doing business together. And that means millions of Americans won't have to change pharmacies.

BONE OF CONTENTION: Walgreen, the biggest U.S. drugstore chain, said Caremark wasn't paying it enough to fill prescriptions and should drop policies encouraging patients to leave Walgreen. They were set to split July 9.

SETTLEMENT: The companies did not disclose terms of their new multiyear agreement.
