8 fire departments in Illinois receive FEMA grants

Associated Press
WASHINGTON — Nearly $1 million in federal money is on its way to eight fire departments in Illinois.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency grants Thursday. The grants total just over $992,000 and are for operations and safety.

The grants in the Chicago area are awarded to the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District, the Long Grove Fire Protection District, the Morton Grove Fire Department and the Palos Heights Fire Protection District.

Central Illinois districts receiving awards are the Kankakee Township Fire Protection District, the Limestone Fire Protection District and the Tri-County Fire Protection District.

In Southern Illinois, the City of Red Bud Fire Department is receiving a FEMA grant.
