The Exelon African American Members Association is offering 10 scholarships of $2,500 each to needy seniors at an Illinois high school or an Illinois college or university including City Colleges of Chicago with an interest in business, engineering, mathematics or physical sciences.
The deadline to apply is May 14 and winners will be notified by June 11. Exelon is the parent of ComEd.
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Applicants must be a currently enrolled college student or graduating high school senior accepted to an accredited 4-year college or university.
2. Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen and also an Illinois resident within the ComEd service territory (the northern third of Illinois).
3. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.75 out of 4.0 or higher.
4. Applicants must plan to or be enrolled in a program of study majoring in business, engineering, mathematics, computer science or the physical sciences.
5. Applicants must reside in the ComEd service territory (northern third of Illinois).
6. Relatives of Exelon employees are not eligible to apply.
7. Students must plan to attend or already be enrolled at one of the following colleges:

2. DePaul University
3. DeVry
4. Eastern Illinois University
5. Harold Washington Chicago City College
6. Illinois Institute of Technology
7. Illinois State University
8. Kennedy-King College
9. Loyola University Chicago

1. A completed application form.
2. An official school transcript.
3. Two letters of recommendation (one academic, one non-academic).
4. An essay of 500 words or less explaining why you should receive the scholarship, including an explanation of your career goals and any activities, interests, experiences, or achievements that support your position. (Essays must be typed and double-spaced).
