H.S. teacher charged with felony drug possession

A routine traffic stop Friday night on the South Side landed a Chicago Public Schools teacher in jail with a felony charge.


According to Chicago police, Jacqueline Hobbs-Brown was initially stopped for failure to yield to a stop sign in the 300 Block East of 85th Street around 10:25 p.m.


However, police ended up charging her with felony possession of cannabis after finding moiré than 30 grams of the illegal substance in her possession, police said.


Hobbs-Brown teaches at Percy Julian High School, 10330 S. Elizabeth, and has been a teacher with the school district since 2004, according to Monique Bond, spokeswoman for CPS.
“She will be removed pending the investigation,” Bond added.
