No injuries in suburban Chicago auto shop fire

Associated Press
MAYWOOD, Ill. — Fire officials estimate a morning fire at a suburban Chicago auto shop may have caused $1 million in damage.

No one was injured in the Sunday morning fire at J&E Auto shop in Maywood.

Dispatchers received a 911 call around 11:20 a.m.

Maywood Fire Department spokesman Laighton Scott says the fire started in a tire shop and spread to an adjacent building. He says at least eight cars were destroyed in the blaze.

He says the estimated $1 million in damage includes the two buildings and all contents.

Authorities have not determined a cause.
