CHICAGO
MUSICAL ASSOCIATION/National Association Negro Musicians was established in
March 12, 1919 at the home of Nora Holt, 4405 S. Prairie Ave. President Barbara
Wright-Pryor and the Chicago Music Association is hosting the Chicago Music
Association Choral Festval in a concert at the South Shore Cultural Center,
70th and South Shore Drive, February 21 at 4 p.m. under the direction of Dr.
Keith Hampton.
BLACK HISTRY
MONTH at the South Shore Opera Company will feature it’s annual salute to Black
music with concert of spirituals, songs and arias written by African American
composers, February 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S.
Shore Dr. in the Roberson Theater.
MUSIC
MONDAYS at eta Square, 7558 S. South Chicago Ave. features Milton Suggs in a
Concert instrumental and vocal music at 7 p.m. hosted by Sue Conway, Maven of
the Microphone and WVON Radio personality Cliff Kelley. Admission is $15 ($12
for groups of 10 individuals or more.
The theater
company also premieres “Fathers & Sons” by Michael Bradford and directed by
Kemati J. Porter Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
and 7 p.m. The theater continues
its series of female directors through April 4. Admission is $30.
BUDDY GUYS
LEGEND, 752 S. Wabash is featuring vocalist Janiva Magness introducing her new
CD, “What Love Will Do” Friday at 11 p.m. Admission $15.

p.m.; on Friday sets jump off at 8, 10 and midnight. On Saturday the show time
is at 10 p.m., 11:30 and 1 a.m.
