State campaign to get older adults involved

Associated Press
Some older adults might have already retired from their jobs, but the state of Illinois wants them to stay active in their communities.

The Illinois Department on Aging will be planning activities in all of the state's 102 counties next year.

Gov. Pat Quinn announced the campaign to get older adults engaged during the governor's annual conference on aging.

Quinn says the idea is to get more people volunteering and using their talents and life experiences to help their communities.

The yearlong campaign is aimed at people 50 and older.
