Blago fundraiser weighing guilty plea

Ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich's former chief fund-raiser is considering a guilty plea in connection with an $8.5 million fraud case, a federal prosecutor says.

Christopher Kelly and his lawyers need to sign off on the final details before such a plea is entered, federal prosecutor Reid Schar told a Tuesday court hearing.

Kelly's lawyers and the prosecutors then huddled to try to put the finishing touches on the agreement.

The 50-year-old roofing contractor is accused of paying $450,000 to an unnamed consultant to land $8.5 million in roofing contracts at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.

Kelly is the former head of the Friends of Rod Blagojevich campaign fund and raised millions of dollars in that role.
