Former U. of Ill. trustee Dorris angry with Quinn

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Former University of Illinois trustee David Dorris is angry that Gov. Pat Quinn reappointed only one of the board members who resigned at the governor's request.

Dorris said Friday that Quinn made a political decision to wipe the board clean over the university's admissions scandal — except for Chicago trustees James Montgomery and Frances Carroll. Montgomery and Carroll said they'd fight the governor, and he decided to let them stay.

Quinn on Friday named trustees to fill the board's five vacancies. He named two other new trustees last week.

One, Edward McMillan, was among those who resigned.

Devon Bruce is another former trustee who resigned but hoped to be reappointed. He would only say he's disappointed.
