Chicago aldermen seek Olympic oversight

The city of Chicago finds out next month if it will host the 2016 Summer Olympics, and Chicago aldermen want to make sure there's enough oversight if the city does.

Some aldermen have introduced an ordinance to create three layers of oversight. They want a City Council oversight committee, authority for the city's inspector general to monitor the games and public disclosure of finances.

Supporters say it's tougher than a competing ordinance Mayor Richard Daley has proposed.

The International Olympic Committee will decide Oct. 2 if Chicago will host the games. The city is a finalist along with Tokyo, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro.
