U of Ill. faculty to vote on president, chancellor

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The University of Illinois' Faculty Senate will vote on whether school President B. Joseph White and Urbana-Champaign campus Chancellor Richard Herman should keep their jobs.

The Senate's executive committee last week approved a resolution calling for both men to be replaced for their roles in the recent admissions scandal but only after successors are found.

The full Senate votes on the resolution Monday afternoon.

The measure is purely advisory. White and Herman answer to the university's board of trustees. The board is expected to consider their performances starting in September.

White and Herman were criticized by a state panel examining the role of political clout in university admissions.
