Desecration probe may look at third cemetery

State authorities say the investigation of alleged grave desecration at two cemeteries in Chicago's southern suburbs may be extended to a third graveyard.

Brent Adams, secretary of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation said Thursday there are allegations that as many as four people are being buried in body bags in single graves at Mount Hope Cemetery in unincorporated Cook County. The cemetery adjoins Chicago's Morgan Park neighborhood.

Adams has asked Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes to investigate the reports.

The allegations surfaced at a hearing of Gov. Pat Quinn's Cemetery Task Force, which was formed in the wake of the desecration scandal at Burr Oak Cemetery near Alsip.

The investigation was extended to Mount Glenwood Memory Gardens South, where a human bone was found above ground.
