Quinn to take action on campaign finance

Gov. Pat Quinn is set to take action on a campaign finance bill that Republican lawmakers have called on him to veto.

GOP leaders in the General Assembly say the bill is flawed, and they want to work on a new version.

Quinn has hinted he'll use his amendatory veto powers to rewrite the bill that will pass the Democrat-controlled Legislature.

Critics have complained the bill doesn't go far enough on some fronts although it does set the state's first campaign contribution limits.

But some say it doesn't do enough to regulate money from interest groups and political parties. They say that protects incumbents.

Quinn has acknowledged the bill has some issues.

He is expected to announce what action he'll take at an afternoon news conference at his downtown Chicago office.
