Two tornados confirmed in central Ill.

WILLIAMSVILLE, Ill. — Among the debris volunteers in Williamsville have been hauling away are the remains of one of just two churches in the tiny central Illinois village.

After a tornado struck, only the steeple of the Williamsville Christian Church still stands.

Williamsville Board President Tom Yokley says the church has been a cornerstone of the village. Now, he says it's damaged beyond repair.

Yokley says the spirits of village residents have been lifted by the hundreds of volunteers who've arrived to help clean up.

The National Weather Service says at least two tornados struck central Illinois on Wednesday and about a dozen people in Williamsville were injured. Another confirmed tornado struck Loami (loh-AM'-uh), where there were also several injuries.
