EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — The parents of a southwestern Illinois baby who died last October are accused of killing the boy by shaking him.
A Madison County grand jury has indicted Cory Nash of St. Louis and Renee Condray of Granite City on charges of first-degree murder.
Their child, Gabriel Nash, was 4 months old when he died of a head injury and rib fractures while the couple lived in Pontoon Beach. Prosecutors believe the baby was shaken.
The charges allege that the parents "performed acts which caused a traumatic brain injury" to the child.
A pathologist has said the child had evidence of previous head and rib injuries.
Nash and Condray don't have listed home telephone numbers and couldn't be reached for comment.
