Congratulations to the 2009 Chicago Defender Bud Billiken King and Queen and their Royal Court, chosen from contestants in the Bud Billiken contest. The contestants were required to not only sell subscriptions of the Chicago Defender, but also to write essays and to deliver those essays in public. Those who garnered the most points in all of the competitions were named to the Royal Court.
The Coronation Ceremony and reception for the Royal Court will take place Sunday at 1:30 p.m., at the Museum of Science and Industry, Main Auditorium/West Pavilion, 57th and Lake Shore Drive.
