MILWAUKEE — A national traveling exhibit on baseball's Negro Leagues is opening Friday in Milwaukee.
"Pride and Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience" runs through Sept. 4. at the Washington Park Library.
The show covers the history of baseball's Negro Leagues and looks at how Black ballplayers have fared in Major League Baseball since Jackie Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.
It includes photo, team rosters, scorecards and other memorabilia.
The Milwaukee Public Library is one of 25 libraries nationwide that will host the exhibit, which treats baseball as a reflection of U.S. race relations.
It was organized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in New York and the American Library Association Public Programs Office in Chicago. It is based on a permanent display at the Hall of Fame.
