Overnight shootings injure four, kill one

by Kathy Chaney
Between midnight and 1 a.m. Friday, five people were shot, one fatally, in three separate incidents.

Three people were injured during a drive-by shooting at around 12:15 a.m. in the 2300 block of West Jackson Boulevard. About five minutes later on the South Side, a man was shot on the back porch at a home in the 7600 block of South Stewart Avenue, police said.

At 1 a.m., 28-year-old Tomika Ellis was killed during a drive-by in the 1600 block of North Mason Avenue, about a block from her home, police said.

No one is in custody for any of the incidents, said Chicago Police News Affairs officer Laura Kubiak.
