The ringleader of a scheme that bilked insurance companies out of $2.6 million dollars for allergy shots has been sentenced to nine years.
Fifty-two-year-old John Froelich, formerly of Harwood Heights, was also ordered to pay $2.6 million restitution.
Prosecutors say the group administered allergy shots to 800 individuals in unsanitary conditions without proper medical supervision and then billed the insurance companies.
Prosecutors say no patients suffered serious injury, but they were exposed to risk.
Froelich pleaded guilty to wire fraud. Eight members of his group also pleaded guilty and a tenth was convicted at trial.
