Rev. Jackson urges low student loan interest rates

The Rev. Jesse Jackson is advocating for lower interest rates on student loans.

The Chicago civil rights leader is giving a speech on the issue Monday during the annual conference of his Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.

He says if banks are beneficiaries of bailout funds and can borrow money at lower interest rates, students should get the same deal.

The five-day conference runs through Wednesday.

Civil rights leaders from around the country, including NAACP President Ben Jealous are attending. Federal leaders, including U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, also attended over the weekend.
