WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. — Attorneys say a Wisconsin man has reached a plea deal to settle charges he abducted and sexually assaulted two young men who were held in chains at his home.
Prosecutor Todd Wolf said Thursday that Edward Lanphear of rural Wisconsin Rapids will enter pleas Monday to two counts of kidnapping and two counts of first-degree sexual assault. Under the deal, nine other felony counts would be dropped.
A trial was set to begin Monday.
The 47-year-old Lanphear was charged in the abduction of a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old man in Wisconsin Rapids in July. Lanphear was arrested after one man escaped.
Wolf said the victims were advised on the plea negotiations and have no problems with the deal.
Lanphear's attorney confirms a plea bargain was reached but gave no details.
