Chicago activists plan for Prop 8 ruling

Activists plan to rally in Chicago to either celebrate or protest a decision by the California Supreme Court.

Justices say they'll hand down their decision Tuesday in a series of lawsuits that seek to overturn Proposition 8, a voter-approved ban on same-sex unions. If the court upholds the initiative, the marriages of an estimated 18,000 who wed in California before the measure passed could be invalidated.

Thousands of gay rights activists rallied in Chicago in November after the California electorate passed Proposition 8.
