It’s tough being a white woman nowadays. Always having to live up to unrealistic body images, having to sit atop the cultural beauty hierarchy year after year and maintain unrealistic standards of purity. While Black women’s looks and sexuality continued to be stereotyped or marginalized, white women are always being poked and prodded by expectations and regulations of a society they suffer in but benefit from. And don’t even try to be a conservative white woman, given the recent liberal venom directed at Carrie Prejean and Bristol Palin. It looks like it’s open season on white women in America.

Carrie Prejean, for the uninitiated, is the Miss California contestant who had the misfortune of giving an honest answer to an obnoxious gossip celebrity who happens to be gay, Perez Hilton. As a judge at the Miss USA pageant, Hilton asked Prejean if she thought gay marriage should be made legal in all states, and Prejean *gasp* gave the same answer as Barack Obama and a majority of Americans when she said she didn't support gay marriage. Within 24 hours Perez Hilton was ranting in the mainstream media about how Prejeans’ bigoted answer cost her the Miss USA crown. Around the same time, left-wing bashing of white womanhood continued with another easy target, Bristol Palin. The teenaged daughter of former vice-presidential millstone Sarah Palin, was chastised for dedicating her celebrity to a teen abstinence program, despite getting pregnant out of wedlock during the campaign. And lest anyone fail to see the connection between these types of attacks, when not taking time out to defend her daughter Governor Palin states in a recent interview that, “The liberal onslaught of malicious attacks against (Miss California) Carrie Prejean for expressing her opinion is despicable!”

White women in America are forever trapped in the sexual corset that their Latina and African-American sisters are generally freed from (they don’t get to have corsets, too easy to have wardrobe malfunctions). From beer commercials to Axe body spray, white women are used to constantly sell sex, but they can’t talk about it, or like it, unless they’re Madonna or Dr. Ruth.
