Food drive aims to Stamp Out Hunger

WASHINGTON — The annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive by the nation's postal carriers will be held Saturday.

Thousands of letter carriers across the country will collect food for delivery to local food banks and pantries for distribution to those who need the help.

It's the 17th year the drive has been operated by the National Association of Letter Carriers and the Postal Service.

Organizers are seeking nonperishable items such as dried pasta and canned goods. The items can be left near mailboxes, and the carriers will collect them on their regular delivery routes.

Last year, the drive collected 73,113,915 pounds of food for the needy.
